Wildlife in June

Northern Serengeti: The wildebeest column — approximately 1.5 million animals — is moving steadily northward. By June, the leading edge of the migration is approaching the Loliondo area and far northern Serengeti (Kogatende section). Early river crossing attempts at the Mara River may begin in late June. Positioning yourself in the north for the last week of June is a strategic move that pays off for some years.

Central Serengeti (Seronera): The migration herds pass through the central Serengeti through June. The Seronera River provides a year-round anchor for wildlife — large lion prides, leopards in the riverine forest, hippos, and elephants. June is excellent here.
